Gutter Installation in Chattanooga, TN
We roll seamless gutter on site and fit it to the roofline in front of us, anywhere across Chattanooga. We come over from Hixson, about ten miles up the river, so this is local work rather than a long haul.
Why it matters here
How Much Water a Chattanooga Roof Has to Move
Chattanooga gets more than fifty inches of rain in an average year, which is well above the national figure. It does not arrive evenly either. Late winter and early spring are the wettest stretch, and summer brings thunderstorms that drop a lot of water in a short window.
A gutter is sized for the worst hour, not the annual total. A channel and outlet arrangement that copes perfectly in a drizzle can run over the front edge in an August downpour, and that is usually what people are actually describing when they say their gutters do not work.
The tree canopy is the other half of it. There is a lot of mature hardwood across the city, and oak and poplar put a heavy load into an open gutter every fall.
What that adds up to is a place where sizing, outlet count and keeping the channel clear all matter more than they would somewhere drier. None of it is exotic. It just has to be got right.
One city, several kinds of house
Older Fascia, Mid-Century Ranch and New Build
Chattanooga housing is not one thing. The older neighborhoods carry a lot of pre-war stock with deep eaves and original timber fascia, and the question there is often whether the board will take a new system at all before anything else gets discussed.
Through Brainerd and East Ridge there is a great deal of mid-century ranch: long low rooflines, modest spans, and usually a straightforward job unless the pitch has gone.
Out toward East Brainerd and the Ooltewah side the stock is newer and larger, with more complex roofs, more valleys and more places for water to concentrate.
The ridges add their own thing. On a steep lot the gutter is the easy part and the discharge is the real question, because water leaving the downspout has somewhere to run.

Questions
Chattanooga Gutter Questions
Do you charge more to come into the city from Hixson?
No. Hixson is about ten miles from downtown and the whole city is inside the normal working area, so there is no travel charge sitting on top of a Chattanooga job.
Do the gutters need to be bigger because of the rainfall here?
Sometimes, and it depends on the roof rather than the ZIP code. What decides it is how much roof drains into one run and how many outlets that run has.
A long steep plane feeding a single downspout is the usual reason something overflows. More often than not the fix is another outlet rather than a bigger channel. Either way it gets worked out at the property, and the detail is on the installation page.
My house is older and the fascia is timber. Is that a problem?
It is a question rather than a problem. Gutter hangs off the fascia, so the board has to be sound enough to hold it, and on an older property that is the first thing to check.
If the timber is solid we can clad it in formed aluminum so it stops needing paint. See fascia and soffit metalwork. If the timber has actually rotted, that is carpentry and a different trade, and we will tell you plainly rather than hang a new system on rotten board.
The house is on a steep lot. Does that change the job?
It moves the difficulty from the gutter to the discharge. On a slope the channel itself is routine, but where the downspout lets go matters a great deal more, because the water has somewhere to run once it is on the ground.
That usually means thinking about outlet placement and extensions rather than anything unusual up at the eave.
Are guards worth it with this many trees?
Under heavy hardwood they shorten the list of jobs considerably. What they do not do is make a gutter maintenance-free, and anyone telling you otherwise is overselling.
The honest version is on the gutter guards page, including what maintenance still looks like afterwards.
